My little man is growing up!

So my little man is just over 7 months, wow how the time flies. I remember the first few months going by so slowly! Just two days ago, my husband was taking care of my son and when I came home he told me he’d rolled over front to back and back to front!

I’ve been waiting for 7 months for this to happen!!! But the next day i tried it again, and he did it again! It’s only taken 7 months LOL

He’s also sitting up so well, and today, he tried to share his soother with his stuffed animal the sleep sheep.

When we first started solids, It was a chore to feed him, now he opens his mouth and wants all the lovely food I’ve been making him…aside from the peaches lol

It’s funny, how I thought id be one of those moms who would want to go back to work as soon as possible, and now I’m enjoying being home with him so much it’s going to be hard to go back.

It’s not that I don’t love my job, but I love watching my son grow.  I’ve got a great place for him to go to when I return to work ( my MIL will be watching him) but it will be hard to turn the reins over.

Nowadays most families have two working parents, so there are fewer and fewer SAHM’s (Stay At Home Mom’s). I’m sure I’m overreacting and it won’t be traumatic to my son for me to go back to work, it will just be an adjustment.

It will however be nice to have a “life” outside of my little home, and my son.  Right now the biggest concerns are nap times, my son’s bowel movements and baby food. *sigh*

My Creepy Spider

I have been neglecting my blog lately, and I wrote this a few weeks back on Twittermoms.com so I thought I would share it with all of you!

Every summer there is one spider that hangs out in my window. He sits between my screen and the outside window. Every fall I flush him out–or so i think, and every year he comes back, or it’s probably not the same spider but it’s kind of fun to think that he is.

A week ago, my husband was cleaning the kitchen–yes it happens a few times a year, and says, "OMG there’s a huge spider in the window, hold on (I was talking to him at the time) for a second while I kill him." So I shout NOOOOOO he’s my buddy. Apparenlty that was the last thing he’d ever thought he’d hear me say. LOL

So today I had the window open for him to get some food in his web—yes I’ve become maternal to the stupid thing. and a little mosquito got stuck, well disturbingly enough my "little buddy" was no longer cute as I saw him charge the mosquito and grab him, and run back into the side of the window so he could devour him.

While I hate mosquito’s it was gross to see the spider attack LOL I think i’ll do some fall cleaning this weekend, it’s time for him to move on LOL

UPDATED

Well I did some cleaning but left the window open and wouldn’t you know he came back! So last night I had to flush him out again, it was tricky I tell you!  Imagine me waiting by the window until he was sitting on the glass and then quickly opening it up, and taking my kitchen sink hose thingy (I don’t know the technical name for it) and spraying him until he fell off!  Guess that window is staying closed until spring.

Are your cosmetic’s killing you?

No this isn’t revenge of the lipstick coming at you with a knife while you are asleep but it is more like, the cat burglar. Silent but just as effective.

With recent scares about the lead in lipstick and all the harsh chemicals in sunscreen, it’s had me thinking, just what am I putting on my skin?

So browsing around Twittermoms.com I ran into some wonderful women who introduced me to an organic line of products (not just cosmetics). Erin Ely introduced me to her Canadian counterpart Anita who told me to check out the MiEssence products if I was looking for all Organic products.

So what was driving me to look for organic products? Let’s see, a year ago I started using Norwex cleaning products and mircrofibre cloths to clean my house so it wasn’t littered with chemicals and that’s probably where it started. Now with making my own baby foods I’m always looking for organic stuff to make for my son. It seems that everything and it’s dog is becoming organic. So now the trick is to make sure it’s certified organic product or not. Anyway’s I’m getting off my point!

The other night I was out with my mom and son. Well wouldn’t you know he’s into giving the open mouth kisses all over our faces or a facewash. It got me thinking, not only are there chemicals in what we put on our skin (that sinks in through our pours) but now that I have a little one sucking on every orifice of me, I don’t exactly want him swallowing what ever make up I have on my face, which leads me to my next point.

What’s in your make up?

If you read your face cream’s ingredient list you’d be surprised what they put in there! To take a look at what your make up ingredients actually do to you and your body click here!

So Anita sent me a few products to try out and I have to say I’m so impressed with the quality of the products!  She sent me the  Jaffa lip balm and the Mineral foundation powder.

imageThe lip balm smells like oranges and exfoliates your lips as you put it on, it’s got little beads to take away the dry skin and then once it’s done doing that, the beads disappear. SO many lip balms stay grainy this one does not! This product retails for $9.95 USD, and when you think about how much you pay for products that aren’t half as good, you can afford to splurge a little bit, this product is totally worth it!

The mineral powder smells like roses! It gives you a nice soft finish so that you do not shine up the place with your face.  It’s a great finishing product to help your skin appear very silky smooth. It’s very light and does not look like you are wearing a tonne of make up. This product retails for $30.95 USD. When you consider how much powder’s cost from professional lines such as Elizabeth Arden powder at $30.00 USD, just think of this.. all of these ingredients are all natural and safe. So no matter how much my son sucks on my face (yes I know gross), at least I know that he’s not ingesting any chemicals.

The bottom Line

Anita also has many other products besides the make up, such as baby care, house hold products, body care, skin care, hair care and more!  If you are looking for a great product that is natural and that works without breaking the bank definitely check out MiEssence products!  Want to know what skin type you have, check out Anita’s guide here!

So why shop organic? the bottom line, because it’s healthier for you and your family.  Most of these products you could eat-not that I would eat them, but you could!
