Yogi tea: the tea that says nice things to you!

My husband sent me this website about tea, because he knows that I love tea. In fact one of my nickname was teabags in high school-ok perverts not for the reason you think!

One innocent day in grade 11 I brought a travel mug to school filled with tea.  I used to walk to school and it was cold out so I wanted to have something to warm me up while I was freezing my ass off! SO anyways, I’m sitting in geography class while some of the guys in my class (our class clown namely) looks at me and says, “ooo you think you’re soo cool because you’re drinking coffee.” To which I replied, “no, it’s tea.” He thought he was the wizard of oz and deemed me tea bags because I drank tea. How original hey?  One of his friends and I had a conversation on facebook a few weeks ago quite by accident (you know when you send someone a message and it goes to someone else with the same first name lol) And he says to me “god do you remember the nickname you had in high school? Little did I know then what it means now” lol But I digress. Now back to my real post.

Anyways, I actually love coffee and tea equally. I am proud to say that I worked at Starbucks while I was in University. Oh and as a side note, if I never had to work again, I’d work there just for fun. It was a blast! Ok ok, back to the tea. So my husband sent me this link, because he knows how much I love exotic tea’s. And while browsing this site I noticed they had 4 different categories of teas.

He had originally sent me this site because it had a nursing mom’s health tea.  So while I was browsing around, I noticed that they would gladly send you some free samples of this wonderful tea, so I thought sign me up! Sadly, it’s for American residents only-you lucky bums!

For example today my Pomegranate Green tea told me: “Gratitude is the open door to abundance.” The other day my Goji berry Green tea told me, “your heartbeat is the rhythm of your soul.”

I’ve also recently purchased the Green tea triple Echinacea and I’m very excited to try it!

With each tea you buy they give suggestions on how to get the most out of the specific tea you are drinking. They also give you tips on the box about yoga poses, it’s all very zen! So if you are looking to boost your immune system, chill out and de-stress with the Kava Stress Relief tea, or just enjoy a warm cup of your favourite blend please check out their selection.

One of my dear internet buddies Lisa was drinking her stress relief tea the other day and it said, “It’s not life that matters, it is the courage that you bring to it.” And I’ll leave you with that.

Expecting a baby?

When we were expecting, we were one of the few who decided to not find out if it was a boy or a girl. I remember going for my ultrasound at the hospital at around 21 weeks and being so curious but not looking in the “area” that i was supposed to.

It became a big thing in my family.. would it be blue or pink. Yes many people asked me to turn around, asked me what the heart rate was, was my hair dryer then usual. I had heard that carrying low, or high, front or wide was supposed to be a boy/girl depending on who you asked.

So after my ultrasound, I went on my message boards and announced.. It’s a ….. Baby!

ERIN, CARRASCO_39

Man were people miffed :) I then wrote we thought we were expecting kittens and low and behold it was a human baby! go figure!

So i thought a cute thing would be for people to guess, so I came across something called expectnet.com

Any ways my due date was March 29th.. and I ended up going into labour March 4th!  But besides my business partner I was the closest!

It lets you select if you think it will be a boy or a girl, what day, what time and how much baby will weigh. It’s quite neat. After you have baby you can update it and it emails everyone!

Happy guessing!

Free Hugs? Mitch Joel in the flesh!

The Power Within

This week I had the privilege of attending a Power from Within conference.   The keynote speaker of the event was Anthony Robbins. He was the actual reason that i bought the tickets in the first place, but I can actually say that all 6 speakers brought something important to the table. So I’ll do a little blurb about a few that I found the most inspiring.

When Mitch Joel came out, I didn’t really know what to think, I’m not in the business of marketing in the professional world-although after hearing him speak, you could argue that we are all in marketing, we all sell ourselves to every person we meet, even if it is unconsciously.

When Google wanted to explain online marketing to the top retailers in the United States (including Wal-Mart, Costo, Sears and Sephora), they brought Mitch Joel to the Googleplex in Mountain View, California. Marketing Magazine dubbed him the, “Rock Star of Digital Marketing” and in 2006 he was named one of the most influential authorities on Blog Marketing in the world. Mitch Joel is President of Twist Image – an award-winning Digital Marketing agency based in Montreal, Quebec. He is a marketing and communications visionary, interactive expert, community leader, Blogger, Podcaster and believer in doing the impossible. He is also a passionate entrepreneur and speaker who connects with people worldwide by sharing his marketing insights on digital marketing and personal branding.-From the Power Within Website.

I have to say I was impressed.  He spoke a lot about the power of conversation and expanding your social network. One thing he said that I thought was neat was that as children we are taught to “never speak to strangers” and as adults it’s so engrained in us that we tend to shy away from people.  How many times do you look down when you’re in an elevator so you avoid having a conversation with someone else?

He also played this video. It’s interesting that the more “connected” we become (in terms of technology) the easier it is to be disconnected from each other.  I’m sure some of you have seen this before, but for those who haven’t, take a look!

He encouraged everyone to attend 3 social networking events by the end of this week, and as most people groaned he reminded us that it can be as simple as turning around behind you and introducing yourself. And no he wasn’t giving out free hugs, that’s Juan Mann’s job!

The Bottom Line

Mitch’s message was clear, stop being afraid to have a conversation with someone you don’t know. There are so many free tools for us to use to market ourselves and our business, don’t be afraid to use them.

With the advent of the internet, we all have the same ability to market ourselves to millions of people, without footing a huge PR bill.  So with that being said, if you’re into social networking sites and you want to hear more about my boring amazing life, follow me on twitter! Mitch also wants you to follow him scroll to the bottom of this page and find out where you can find him!

Even if you don’t believe a word I’m saying in this post, you have to admit that this video is pretty amazing! Juan Mann is the man in this video, and has appeared on Oprah!  So go out and hug some one, it’s free.

Are your cosmetic’s killing you?

No this isn’t revenge of the lipstick coming at you with a knife while you are asleep but it is more like, the cat burglar. Silent but just as effective.

With recent scares about the lead in lipstick and all the harsh chemicals in sunscreen, it’s had me thinking, just what am I putting on my skin?

So browsing around Twittermoms.com I ran into some wonderful women who introduced me to an organic line of products (not just cosmetics). Erin Ely introduced me to her Canadian counterpart Anita who told me to check out the MiEssence products if I was looking for all Organic products.

So what was driving me to look for organic products? Let’s see, a year ago I started using Norwex cleaning products and mircrofibre cloths to clean my house so it wasn’t littered with chemicals and that’s probably where it started. Now with making my own baby foods I’m always looking for organic stuff to make for my son. It seems that everything and it’s dog is becoming organic. So now the trick is to make sure it’s certified organic product or not. Anyway’s I’m getting off my point!

The other night I was out with my mom and son. Well wouldn’t you know he’s into giving the open mouth kisses all over our faces or a facewash. It got me thinking, not only are there chemicals in what we put on our skin (that sinks in through our pours) but now that I have a little one sucking on every orifice of me, I don’t exactly want him swallowing what ever make up I have on my face, which leads me to my next point.

What’s in your make up?

If you read your face cream’s ingredient list you’d be surprised what they put in there! To take a look at what your make up ingredients actually do to you and your body click here!

So Anita sent me a few products to try out and I have to say I’m so impressed with the quality of the products!  She sent me the  Jaffa lip balm and the Mineral foundation powder.

imageThe lip balm smells like oranges and exfoliates your lips as you put it on, it’s got little beads to take away the dry skin and then once it’s done doing that, the beads disappear. SO many lip balms stay grainy this one does not! This product retails for $9.95 USD, and when you think about how much you pay for products that aren’t half as good, you can afford to splurge a little bit, this product is totally worth it!

image

The mineral powder smells like roses! It gives you a nice soft finish so that you do not shine up the place with your face.  It’s a great finishing product to help your skin appear very silky smooth. It’s very light and does not look like you are wearing a tonne of make up. This product retails for $30.95 USD. When you consider how much powder’s cost from professional lines such as Elizabeth Arden powder at $30.00 USD, just think of this.. all of these ingredients are all natural and safe. So no matter how much my son sucks on my face (yes I know gross), at least I know that he’s not ingesting any chemicals.

The bottom Line

Anita also has many other products besides the make up, such as baby care, house hold products, body care, skin care, hair care and more!  If you are looking for a great product that is natural and that works without breaking the bank definitely check out MiEssence products!  Want to know what skin type you have, check out Anita’s guide here!

So why shop organic? the bottom line, because it’s healthier for you and your family.  Most of these products you could eat-not that I would eat them, but you could!

There is even a point program! Below are the details, so if you shop more you save more!

The “new” black box

While I’ve been recently very busy on the Internet, well mostly on Twittermoms.com, I’ve come across some really neat blogs!  There are so many interesting women out there, and if I needed another reason to be obsessed with the Internet, I’ve found one.

While browsing Twittermoms.com I came across Cheryl Hill’s recent blog posting about something mysteriously-but aptly called the black box.

Basically this black box will ask you to decide between two options, each choice you make brings you closer to a “mystery” website of a blog you’ve probably never read before.

The Creator of this little black box widget is Caroline Smailes, she is an author who has recently written another book titled black boxes. The following is a synopsis of her latest book:

Ana Lewis is a woman trapped and ruined by her own expectations. Her intense relationship with fellow student Alex cracks beyond repair when she falls pregnant, and his subsequent withdrawals, both emotional and sexual are hard for her to bear. Eventually, following the births of their children Pip and Davie, Alex leaves Ana to a life of question and blame.

Basically, this book is about how every little decision you make shapes and changes your life forever. I now have to add this to my “must read” pile!

Oh and if you land on someone’s blog via the box, let them know how you got there!  It’s always nice to have some new visitors and comments!!!  Happy searching!
