Launching my tea blog! Erin’s Tea

If you’ve been following my blog for a while, or have been following me on twitter you would know how much I love tea.  I’ve reviewed a few teas on my blog like Yogi tea and Celestial seasonings tea. Well my love affair with tea went over to the dark side when I found DavidsTea.  I will still be updating this blog as well, so don’t worry, I’m not going anywhere.

But if you’d like to see my new found love please check it out!

My appologies to the Emo and/or Cutter World

Let me keep you up to date as to why i’m writing this.

Almost one year ago I wrote a post questioning what on earth Emo’s and Cutter’s were and I’ve been enlightened, OVER and OVER again.  For some reason my mommy blog has been bombarded by people (each in their own way) telling me the difference between the two. I get it.

Now I understand teenage years are full of angst but suicidebaby69 and hardcoreemo stop trying to comment on how your definition is right.  I’ve approved most of the comments and deleted the plain dumb ones. Your voice has been heard.

I’m not deminishing the pain and angst young people today feel, nor am i condoning cutting yourself. If you feel compelled to cut yourself to feel better, GET HELP.  There is always a better way to deal with your pain.

In saying that, I will NO longer be accepting comments on the previous blog post. Create a blog dedicated to cutting or emo lifestyle if you want your voice heard.

Back in Action

Happy New Year to all of my readers (if there are any left!) I have sooo neglected this blog of mine over the holidays. But have no fear, I’m back from blog vacation!  I have enjoyed reading all of the blogs of the  people who haven’t gone on vacation over the holidays.

cleaning up after the holiday mess

Stay tuned for my failed attempt at taking an imprint of my son’s hand for my husbands birthday. If any of you have ever done it, you will understand that not just one person can do it! What a mess!

Oh and a little update about our Sponsor Child! We got a little package with his photo and how to contact him so I’m looking forward to writing a letter (my mother in law said she’d translate it for us) and sending him a little something!  Does anyone have any idea’s? It has to fit in a 6X9 envelope, be flat, and it can’t be money.

So to all of you, have a fantastic weekend, I’ll be back on Monday!

Sponsoring a Child

While researching my post for my Favourite Christmas songs, one video on YouTube of the John Lennon song War is over, brought me to tears.

It made me think how selfish I was to worry about how many presents to buy this year, or what kind of food to prepare to impress my guests.

There are so many children out there who have no family because of war or disease. Who have to work and not go to school. Who are old before their time.

image I looked at this picture and fell in love:

This is Marco Jose from Peru.  It feels odd to go through photo after photo and try to decide which person to sponsor, I just didn’t know how I was going to choose but I looked at him and fell in love. I guess that’s what I was looking for.

But I had a hard time “picking” my child.

Here’s why:

1) You can select what country, what age, if they’re a hope child (living with AIDS) and even see their picture.

2) When I picked someone, they ended up in my basket (the American site.)

I felt funny, like I was buying someone and they were in my basket. I also felt that I shouldn’t be able to pick, it should just go to the child that needs my help the most. But I wanted to look for a really young child (about my sons age or around it) and found Jose.  In about two weeks I’ll receive a picture and some information about him.

I just love that he has a pink sweater on and a red hat!

What I did notice about the children in all of the photo’s is that they mostly look sad. I’m sure they don’t have much to smile about, without proper clothes, food and shelter, not to mention love.

I read somewhere that poor people laugh more then rich people because they appreciate the simple things in life. God, I hope that is true. But to have children responsible for so much when they are so young is very sad.

I wish that they didn’t have to spend money on updating me with the child, I mean I LOVE to get updates but I would like them to spend the money on the kid.. you know?

I’ll keep you all posted on Marco!  If you are interested in sponsoring a child, please visit:

WorldvisionORG

World Vision was founded in 1951 by Dr. Robert Pierce, a young pastor and missionary, who had first been sent to China and South Korea in 1947 by the Youth for Christ missionary organization. Pierce remained at the head of World Vision for nearly two decades, but resigned from the organization in 1967

What I realized is that you can not only contribute monthly to help someone eat, and learn and grow. But you can buy a gift that gives for many years such as a goat or chickens.

So my $35 a month will help Marco receive things like clean water, nutritious food, health care, and access to education.

Anyway, with all of what’s wrong in this world, we can afford to do a little something that is right. Hope you can too!

It’s beginning to look at lot like Winter.

Thoughts of Christmas entered my mind this morning at around 4:32 A.M. as I looked out my front window to see the lawns and streets covered in a thick layer of fresh snow!  Now for all of you who do not know where Winnipeg is, you can appreciate that it’s nickname across Canada is Winterpeg.  Yes it get’s down to -45?Celcius and with the windchill it can get mighty cold, and feel like -50?. And get this, we still go out!

First Snow

The city does not stop working because it get’s a little chilly, and we do not call in the national guard when it snows 20 cm ( That’s like 8 inches of snow for you not on the metric system)—ahem I’m looking at you Toronto.. national guard because a little snow. shameful really. LOL

So I decided to take my little man out in the snow for the first time, and this is his first time in a snow suit. humm what do you think?  Maybe next year it will be more fun?

Not cool mom. Dom's a little confused at the white stuff

This time of year always makes me think of my favourite Christmas movie, A Christmas story (they’ve even turned the original house into a museum)

You know it’s not so much the winter I dislike, it’s the wind.  When it get’s to be freaking a little cold you can always dress up for it, head to toe, and still be warm, but if that wind picks up, you’re done!

I know people say you can still look fashionable in winter, and I’m sure in many cities that’s true. BUT it is not true here.  Most people look like that kid from A Christmas Story.. and those who don’t look ridiculous because they’re freezing.

Mind you when I was a cool teenager, I never did up my jacket, because I thought it made me look fat. So glad those days are behind me now.. I don’t think I’d go back to be a teenager again!
