Creepy fake babies

I clicked on this link by accident (I was looking for images of babies and this came up).  I then thought it was a link to those babies some people get in family studies classes (usually in high school to teach about caring for baby). it was not!

Please check this out:

It’s a documentary about UK women who buy these fake babies, to fill some void in their lives, or to collect them.  The creepiest thing is that they LOOK real! The artist Deborah King sells them on Ebay for around 400 GBP-which is called adopting the baby.  If you would like to take a look at her gallery click here, it is quite amazing how real these little dolls are.

Once you get past the fact that it’s a little creepy, she’s very talented. These babies are amazing works of art, I just wonder if people are not buying them for other reasons.  I’m sure not all of them are buying them to have one in their collection, getting attached to an item like this seems a little unhealthy if people treat this doll as a real baby. But I’m not here to judge, to each their own.

Use what you learn or stay in bed.

We have all heard of the saying, “you learn something new everyday.” Now it’s probably true, but the truth in the saying comes with what you do with it. We can learn so many things everyday, but if we don’t apply what we learn we might as well have stayed in bed.

What likely happens is that (and for those of you—who like me, love infomercials) we get excited at the time at this fantastic information we’ve learnt and we can’t wait to apply it, but then when we get out of that environment or away from the TV infomercial our motivation is thrown out the window.

Below is a banned Pepsi commercial, it shows application of the a recent learning experience: -How do you apply what you learn?

So my challenge to you is this. Is there something that you have learned recently but have not taken action on? Is there a challenge that you have been facing but cannot seem to overcome a wall in your way?  Take the first step, write it down!!!! The more you see it the more you will do to achieve it.  The next step, surround yourself with like minded individuals. You are only as good as those you surround yourself with. I’ve heard time and time again, that if you take your five closest friends their average salary should most likely equal that of your own.  I’ve also heard the same thing about your friends weight.  If you hang out with overweight people, there is more chance you will be overweight. Now I’m not suggesting not to befriend overweight individuals or cut of friends who don’t make as much money as you as long as they are a positive influence in your life.

You’ve heard of the saying misery loves company? It’s true, how good do you feel about yourself if one of your “friends” calls you and complains the whole time (usually those who do this—always do this, you know the type and probably dread those who call to “dump” on you)— you usually feel crappy afterwards.

Think of this, for negative people, life happens to them.  The positive people create their life. Which do you want to be?

About the Real Tech Mom

The Real Tech Mom with Dominic Real Tech Mom is a new mom of a beautiful baby boy born in March. She also looks after her other two kids (Mia and Keely—her two cats) and her wonderful husband of two years.  Currently on Maternity leave from the HR industry, it has taken some time getting used to not being at work, but being a mom is a different type of job that’s for sure!

Real moms like me know that just because everyone says you should do it, or not do it does not make it set in stone.  The tech part comes into play because my husband is in the technology industry (you could argue that most people’s jobs are nowadays). But this also means that dinner is never the same time every night and our lives are ruled by overtime, extra overtime, travel and the crack blackberry.

Not only a mom, but still a woman and human being that believe it or not enjoys more then just being a mom! Some of my passions are a little geeky but still they’re me none the less. I love video games, namely the Wii games, the Sims, Rockband (xbox360), karaoke, and reading.

My husband and I are known to throw big Karaoke parties, Rockband now added to the entertainment list, as well as dinner parties.  My new motto is just because we’re parents does not mean we’re dead. Our schedules are a little different now that we have our son, but we like to still have fun!
