When Dad let’s children climb stairs for the first time.

So I was in the process of taking pictures and videos off of our camera today and I thought I’d see what was on there for this month. Well low and behold there were two video’s that I didn’t take.

Video number 1-Dad lets our son climb stairs. I mean this is a relatively new task he’s learned so he’s not a pro at it yet. And yes there are only two stairs but that’s enough for him to hurt himself.

Video number 2, is about a minute of our child eating the camera. I mean I’m all for a new camera but until I get another one, letting my son put electrical toys in his mouth is probably not a good idea.

I guess it’s a good thing that I’m the one home with him during the day. The 10 minutes I leave these two alone, “interesting” stuff happens. Anyways at the end of the climbing stairs video, I gasped out loud as I’m sure many of you moms who watch this did lol Oh the joys of stuff to come!

I’ve seen 140 out of 239 films…

This has been going around Facebook, so I thought i’d try it and see how much time I’ve spent watching movies, given my 26 years, i’ll cut myself some slack and not say I have no life, because. well I love movies!

So how about you?

My favorite Christmas tunes

Here are a few of my favourite Christmas tunes!  They’re not in order, and not all are the original video’s or anything but they’re fun to listen to!  Enjoy!  What are some of your favourite Christmas songs?

1) Alvin and the chipmunks

2) Dreaming of a white Christmas

3) Carole of bells

4) Green sleeves

5) Baby its cold outside

6) Feliz Navidad

7) Oh holy night

8 ) So this is Christmas **warning graphic images

Ok I’m going to go sponsor child right now, I just cried my eyes out watching this video. God bless all those suffering in war, and to all those who have lost loved ones.

9) Jingle Bell Rock

10) Mary Boy Child Jesus Christ

It’s beginning to look at lot like Winter.

Thoughts of Christmas entered my mind this morning at around 4:32 A.M. as I looked out my front window to see the lawns and streets covered in a thick layer of fresh snow!  Now for all of you who do not know where Winnipeg is, you can appreciate that it’s nickname across Canada is Winterpeg.  Yes it get’s down to -45?Celcius and with the windchill it can get mighty cold, and feel like -50?. And get this, we still go out!

First Snow

The city does not stop working because it get’s a little chilly, and we do not call in the national guard when it snows 20 cm ( That’s like 8 inches of snow for you not on the metric system)—ahem I’m looking at you Toronto.. national guard because a little snow. shameful really. LOL

So I decided to take my little man out in the snow for the first time, and this is his first time in a snow suit. humm what do you think?  Maybe next year it will be more fun?

Not cool mom. Dom's a little confused at the white stuff

This time of year always makes me think of my favourite Christmas movie, A Christmas story (they’ve even turned the original house into a museum)

You know it’s not so much the winter I dislike, it’s the wind.  When it get’s to be freaking a little cold you can always dress up for it, head to toe, and still be warm, but if that wind picks up, you’re done!

I know people say you can still look fashionable in winter, and I’m sure in many cities that’s true. BUT it is not true here.  Most people look like that kid from A Christmas Story.. and those who don’t look ridiculous because they’re freezing.

Mind you when I was a cool teenager, I never did up my jacket, because I thought it made me look fat. So glad those days are behind me now.. I don’t think I’d go back to be a teenager again!

Free Hugs? Mitch Joel in the flesh!

The Power Within

This week I had the privilege of attending a Power from Within conference.   The keynote speaker of the event was Anthony Robbins. He was the actual reason that i bought the tickets in the first place, but I can actually say that all 6 speakers brought something important to the table. So I’ll do a little blurb about a few that I found the most inspiring.

When Mitch Joel came out, I didn’t really know what to think, I’m not in the business of marketing in the professional world-although after hearing him speak, you could argue that we are all in marketing, we all sell ourselves to every person we meet, even if it is unconsciously.

When Google wanted to explain online marketing to the top retailers in the United States (including Wal-Mart, Costo, Sears and Sephora), they brought Mitch Joel to the Googleplex in Mountain View, California. Marketing Magazine dubbed him the, “Rock Star of Digital Marketing” and in 2006 he was named one of the most influential authorities on Blog Marketing in the world. Mitch Joel is President of Twist Image – an award-winning Digital Marketing agency based in Montreal, Quebec. He is a marketing and communications visionary, interactive expert, community leader, Blogger, Podcaster and believer in doing the impossible. He is also a passionate entrepreneur and speaker who connects with people worldwide by sharing his marketing insights on digital marketing and personal branding.-From the Power Within Website.

I have to say I was impressed.  He spoke a lot about the power of conversation and expanding your social network. One thing he said that I thought was neat was that as children we are taught to “never speak to strangers” and as adults it’s so engrained in us that we tend to shy away from people.  How many times do you look down when you’re in an elevator so you avoid having a conversation with someone else?

He also played this video. It’s interesting that the more “connected” we become (in terms of technology) the easier it is to be disconnected from each other.  I’m sure some of you have seen this before, but for those who haven’t, take a look!

He encouraged everyone to attend 3 social networking events by the end of this week, and as most people groaned he reminded us that it can be as simple as turning around behind you and introducing yourself. And no he wasn’t giving out free hugs, that’s Juan Mann’s job!

The Bottom Line

Mitch’s message was clear, stop being afraid to have a conversation with someone you don’t know. There are so many free tools for us to use to market ourselves and our business, don’t be afraid to use them.

With the advent of the internet, we all have the same ability to market ourselves to millions of people, without footing a huge PR bill.  So with that being said, if you’re into social networking sites and you want to hear more about my boring amazing life, follow me on twitter! Mitch also wants you to follow him scroll to the bottom of this page and find out where you can find him!

Even if you don’t believe a word I’m saying in this post, you have to admit that this video is pretty amazing! Juan Mann is the man in this video, and has appeared on Oprah!  So go out and hug some one, it’s free.
